2NE1 confirm meeting with former label head amid reunion rumours
The members of K-pop girl group 2NE1 will meet up with Yang Hyun-suk, the head of their former agency YG Entertainment, amid reunion rumours.
Earlier today (June 25), South Korean news outlet OSEN reported that all four members of 2NE1 have set up plans to meet with YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk. It comes shortly after previous reports that member CL had dinner with Yang prior to the group’s 15th anniversary in May.
In response to today’s report, YG Entertainment has confirmed that 2NE1 “are scheduled to meet” with the K-pop agency’s founder. “Other than that, we have no further details to confirm at this time,” the company added in its statement to Newsen via Soompi.
Last month, the four members of 2NE1 shared a series of photos from a recent shoot to commemorate their 15th anniversary. Prior to that, the quartet performed together at Coachella 2022, when CL invited the group on stage during her performance at the festival’s 88rising takeover.
2NE1 made their debut in 2009 with their self-titled EP under YG Entertainment. The group would go on to become one of the most successful second-generation acts in K-pop, spawning hits like ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘I Am The Best’ and ‘Come Back Home’, among many others.
In 2016, following a year-long hiatus, YG Entertainment revealed that member Minzy had left the group. Later that year, YG announced that 2NE1 had officially disbanded. The girl group’s last release was the January 2017 song ‘Goodbye’, their first and only song as a trio.
