They’re back! YG Entertainment took to social media on Sunday (July 21) to announce that 2NE1 is officially reuniting alongside a message that reads, “Welcome back.” All four members appear on the poster.
Additionally, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk revealed in a video that the popular K-pop girl group will perform a number of shows to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Yang explained that the 2NE1 tour will begin in Seoul, South Korea, in October, before heading to Osaka, Japan, in November and Tokyo, Japan, in December. Since surging to popularity with their 2009 debut single “Fire” and becoming known worldwide for their swaggering girl power anthem “I’m the Best,” 2NE1 — consisting of members Park Bom, Sandara Park, CL and Minzy — became one of K-pop’s most iconic girl groups. The group disbanded in 2016 following a year-long hiatus and Minzy’s departure. They unveiled their fitting final song, “Goodbye,” in 2017. In 2022,CL reunited the group at Coachella, marking the first time the girls performed on-stage together since 2015.
Throughout their career, 2NE1 saw 19 hits appear on the World Digital Songs chart, three albums appear in the top 10 of the World Albums chart, and one album appear on the Billboard 200 chart.
