Zendaya Sends Her Hoarse Regrets ‘GMA’ Promo Visit For ‘Dune: Part Two’: ‘I Completely Lost My Voice’

Zendaya had to unexpectedly press pause on her global Dune: Part Two promotional tour on Monday (Feb. 26). The actress posted a video in which she was clearly suffering from vocal issues while explaining why she could not appear on Good Morning America as scheduled. “Hello GMA. Sorry I can’t be there. I’ve come down with something and I completely lost my voice,” she said in a hoarse, thin voice in which she could barely be heard.

“But I hope you guys have a beautiful morning and hope you enjoy Dune: Part Two,” she added. The morning show appreciated the gesture, re-posting the clip along with the message, “How sweet is @zendaya to send us this video? We’ll miss you tomorrow and hope you feel better soon!” At press time Zendaya had not revealed any additional information on what is ailing her or if she would come back to GMA to promote the film at a later date.

Earlier on Sunday, Zendaya was on hand for the New York premiere of the Dune sequel along with co-stars Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh and Austin Butler. Z has been on a global jaunt to promote the second part of the Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi epic that will open in U.S. theaters on Friday (March 1), in which she plays Chani, a young Fremen warrior in love with Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. The film based on Frank Herbert’s beloved 1965 novel also features Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem and Léa Seydoux.
