Siblings Angela and Leonardo Aguilar Score First No. 1 on Latin Airplay With Becky G Collab ‘Por El Contrario’

Angela Aguilar and Leonardo Aguilar snatch their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart as “Por El Contrario,” their first pair-up with Becky G, soars 7-1 on the March 9-dated ranking.

The track, released via Kemosabe/RCA/Sony Music Latin, is one of 13 songs from Becky G’s Esquinas album, which debuted and peaked at No. 7 on Top Latin Albums in Oct. 2023. (The tune is credited to Becky G with Leonardo Aguilar and Angela Aguilar.)

In the tracking week of Feb. 23-29, “Por El Contrario” logged 9.3 million audience impressions, a 44% gain from the week prior, according to Luminate. The sum sends Karol G and Peso Pluma’s “Qlona” to No. 2 after one week in charge (with an 11% dip in impressions, to 8.5 million).

As “Contrario” lands at the summit on the overall Latin Airplay ranking, Becky G captures her sixth champ there among 22 showings. It arrives after over two years of her last ruler, “Bailé Con Mi Ex,” for one week atop in Sept. 2022.

“Contrario” becomes Angela Aguilar’s best showing on Latin Airplay, overtaking the No. 3 peak of “Que Agonía,” with Yuridia (chart dated March 4).

Leonardo, meanwhile, nabs his first champ with first visit on the overall radio list.

The tripartite collab concurrently gifts Becky G and Leonardo their first No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay, where the song rises from No. 5 to become the Greatest Gainer of the week. Angela adds a third career No. 1 there, after the five-week ruler “Dime Como Quieres,” with Christian Nodal (2021) and “Ahí Donde Me Ven” (one week in charge, 2022).
