‘Taylor Swift leak’ banned from search on Twitter/X ahead of ‘Tortured Poets Department’ release
The phrase ‘Taylor Swift leak’ has been banned from the search on Twitter/X ahead of the release of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
The social media platform has blocked users from searching for ‘Taylor Swift Leak’ starting yesterday (April 18), two days before the release of her 11th studio album on April 19.
Clips of the alleged tracks from ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ had been circulating on X/Twitter, with fans speculating that the leaks came from a Google drive that housed the album.
Devoted Swifties were quick to begin flooding the mentions of the phrase with memes and jokes, coming to the pop star’s defence by shaming anyone actively seeking out leaks and sharing them. The leaks have not been confirmed as real or fake.

Some fans believed that the leaked songs may be fakes created with the use of artificial intelligence. If confirmed, this would not the first time that one of Swift’s albums has been leaked.
Back in 2014, her fifth studio album ‘1989’ was leaked three days prior to its set release date on October 27, 2014 despite the singer’s attempts to keep it under wraps.
This is also not the first time a phrase revolving her has been banned on X/Twitter. At the beginning of this year, the social media platform temporarily blocked her name from being searched after explicit, fake AI-generated images of the singer went viral.
‘The Tortured Poets Department’ is set for release tomorrow (April 19) – the follow-up to 2022’s Grammy-winning ‘Midnights’.
It will feature collaborations with Florence + The Machine (on ‘Florida!!!’) and Post Malone (on ‘Fortnight’), while other song titles on the record include ‘My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys’, ‘Down Bad’, ‘But Daddy I Love Him’, ‘I Can Do It With A Broken Heart’ and ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’. See the full tracklist here.
In other news, Girl In Red recently opened about the paintings that Swift gifted her following the release of her debut album describing it as “a very cute little thing”.
