Stalker who sent Harry Styles 8,000 cards is jailed and banned from gigs
The woman who stalked Harry Styles and sent him 8,000 cards has been jailed and has been banned from attending his gigs.
35-year-old Brazilian Myra Carvalho had sent the ‘Lights Up’ singer 8,000 cards and handwritten letters in less than a month while in the UK. Some of the cards were wedding-themed and two of the letters were hand-delivered to the pop star’s address, Harrow Crown Court was told (per BBC).
Carvalho was sentenced to 14 weeks of imprisonment after pleading guilty to a stalking charge on Tuesday (April 16). She was also given a restraining order which will last 10 years and was banned from attending any event where Styles was performing.
Court documents revealed that Carvalho was staying in a backpacking hostel in Earl’s Court, west London, after arriving in the UK in December. Her family was not aware that she had left to the UK.
While at Harrow Crown Court, she admitted to one charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress. She was also ordered not to contact the ‘Watermelon Sugar’ singer both directly or indirectly and was barred from entering a specific area of north-west London. She must also pay a victim surcharge of £134.
In other Harry Styles news, the singer’s One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson recently addressed the rumours that he was once in a relationship with Styles, calling the speculation “irritating” and “far too personal”.
