Real-life Martha from ‘Baby Reindeer’ reveals she hasn’t watched the show
The ‘real Martha’ from Baby Reindeer who inspired Richard Gadd’s hit Netflix drama has revealed that she has not watched the show.
Baby Reindeer is a semi-autobiographical series written by the comedian Richard Gadd that claims to tell the “true story” of a struggling stand-up (played by Gadd) who is maliciously stalked by an older woman named Martha.
Fiona Harvey, who is allegedly the inspiration for the stalker character in the series, appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Thursday (May 9), her first television interview since confirming her identity earlier in the week.
While appearing as a guest on the talk show, Harvey was asked by Morgan if she had watched the show to which she replied: “Not at all. I’ve heard about the court scene, about the jail sentences and all this sort of stuff… I haven’t watched any of it.”
She also counter-claimed all of the allegations of stalking and said she was in fact the victim. Harvey claimed that she had only met Gadd a few times and asked him to “leave her alone”.
Harvey also denied multiple times she had stalked Gadd between 2014 and 2015 and claimed that she will be “taking legal action against Richard Gadd and Netflix. We have instructed lawyers in part, but we want to explore all of the options out there. There are a number of people to sue.”
After being challenged about the potential existence of tens of thousands of emails which could serve as evidence that the show was actually based on a true story, Harvey told Morgan: “I wouldn’t be suing if I thought there were 41,000 emails out there.”
She went on to claim that she had only sent the comedian a “handful” of emails, tweets and a written letter. Addressing the question about the voicemails, she claimed that Gadd could have secretly taped her.
Elsewhere, Piers Morgan has said he believes the ‘real Martha’ from Baby Reindeer lied to him “quite a lot” during her interview with him this week.
