Eminem Continues to Tease Slim Shady’s Demise In Cryptic ‘For My Last Trick!’ Post
Eminem is gearing up for… something. The Detroit don continued to tease his next phase on Monday (May 20) in a cryptic post that suggested new music is just around the corner. The X post featured what looked like a text window dated midnight May 31 with a vanishing message that read: “… and for my last trick!”
There was no other information in the post, other than a profile pic emoji image of a bunny wearing a top hat and the suggestion that the message was sent to “all contacts.” At press time there was no additional information on what the message was referring to.
And while Stans were excited, they were also confused, posting comments including, “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ?????,” “pls don’t be a surprise drop. Just make it a single and promote man then do a rollout” and “This better NOT be your last!!!!!” The pre-dating of the post to next Friday led to fan speculation that some new music could drop next Friday (May 31).
Last month, Eminem announced plans for The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), which he’s been teasing as an obituary for his long-running alter ego, complete with a fake Slim obituary that ran in the Detroit Free Press. The LP will be his 12th studio album and the follow-up to 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Em his 10th consecutive chart-topper.
Fans pored over the obit and noticed what they thought was a clue hidden in the eulogy, speculating that the weird punctuation in the subhead — “Fans ‘Will Never Forget’ Controversial Rapper,” may be a preview of one of the project’s song titles.
While he waits, Eminem had something to really celebrate over the weekend, when his 28-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade, got married to longtime boyfriend Evan McClintock. TMZ posted a photo of the sweet dad-daughter dance between Em and Hailie, with Slim Shady suited up in a black tux and matching sunglasses at the outdoor ceremony.
