Watch Ed Sheeran perform ‘Million Miles Away’ with The Offspring
Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance during The Offspring‘s set at BottleRock Napa Valley 2024 over the weekend – check out the footage below.
The singer-songwriter joined the band onstage to sing and play electric guitar on ‘Million Miles Away’ from their 2000 album ‘Conspiracy Of One’ on Sunday (May 26). It marked the first live outing for the song since 2016, per Setlist.FM.
When introducing Sheeran, The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland told the audience (via Consequence): “Ed told us that one of our records was his first CD that he ever bought when he was a kid.
“That really meant a lot to us, so we thought, ‘Wow, we’d love to have you come out to join us on stage’. We’re gonna play one of the songs you wanted to play.”
Sheeran has since posted a video of himself rehearsing backstage with Holland and co. and performing with them at BottleRock Napa Valley in California. He is also seen showing the group his Offspring tattoo.
In the caption, the musician wrote: “The first album I ever bought was the @offspring – Conspiracy of One. I used to pretend to be in their band in the mirror and sing along to the album when I was 9, mostly to their song Million Miles Away as it was the first song of theirs I heard.

“I mentioned it in an interview and Noodles / Dexter got in touch with me when we found out we were all playing the same festival, to see if I wanted to get on stage and sing it. It was an instant yes obvz.”
Sheeran continued: “Really felt like living out a childhood dream thank you for having me up there guys. Music is a wild ride, every day I’m so grateful to be living my dream in reality. Hope you enjoy the vid x.”
Tune in above.
Meanwhile, Sheeran dusted off some old favourites and rarities at his ‘X’ 10th anniversary show in New York last week. He also played a surprise live set at a primary school in Brighton earlier this month.
In other news, Sheeran recently confirmed that he was working on new music but said it’d likely be a while before it was released. He put out two studio albums last year in the form of ‘-‘ and ‘Autumn Variations’.
On Saturday (June 1), The Offspring will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1994 full-length ‘Smash’ with a special show in California. This month, they were joined onstage by Queen’s Brian May at a festival in Slovakia.
