Jennifer Lopez cancels ‘This Is Me… Live’ tour “to spend time with family”

Jennifer Lopez has cancelled her ‘This Is Me… Live’ summer tour to spend more time with her family.

The singer had announced the news in a message to fans via her newsletter today (May 31), in which she said she was “heartsick” over having to can the tour.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” she wrote. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again.

“I love you all so much. Until next time…”

Some media outlets reported that Lopez needing family time was necessary amid rumours she is divorcing her husband Ben Affleck.

Earlier this week, Lopez batted away a question about the state of her marriage in a press conference, looking at the reporter who asked about it and saying that they should “know better than that.” Representatives for Lopez did not comment on the reports.

Variety reports that sources close to Lopez insisted that the tour was not being cancelled due to low ticket sales, pointing to strong sales in cities such as Newark, Orlando, Miami, Chicago, Anaheim and Toronto. However, the outlet also reported that sales elsewhere had been very poor.

Seven shows on the tour, which would have been Lopez’s first North American run in five years, were quietly cancelled in March. Entertainment Weekly reported that the cancellations were likely due to a “logistical issue” on the tour promoter’s end (via Mirror).

The tour’s name was also changed from ‘This Is Me… Now’ (after her new album of the same name) to ‘This Is Me… Live’.

In other news, Ayo Edebiri has said Jennifer Lopez was “very chill” about their potential feud when they appeared on Saturday Night Live together this year.

In an interview with Vanity Fair. She said any talk of a beef was absurd because “that would be like Mr. Bean and Mick Jagger beefing, and I’m obviously Mr. Bean. She’s J.Lo! She was very chill and nice about it.”
