Hollywood veteran Erich Anderson dies aged 67
Erich Anderson, best known for his roles in Felicity and Dallas, has died at the age of 67.
Anderson’s wife, actor Saxon Trainor, announced his death on Instagram, sharing that he had suffered a “brutal struggle with cancer”.
The actor was known for his roles in various television shows including Melrose Place, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Murder, She Wrote.
However, it was his role as Dr. Edward Porter, the father of Keri Russell’s character in J.J. Abrams’ Felicity, for which he was best known. He starred in nine episodes of the hit series, which ran from 1999 to 2002.
Anderson’s film credits include horror movie Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter, Infinity and 2002 movie starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, Unfaithful.
In her tribute on Instagram, Trainor wrote how she was “too bereft” to write about her husband, and so shared the words of her brother-in-law Michael O’Malley.
The post read: “My brother in law Erich Anderson passed this morning after a brutal struggle with cancer. He had a long successful career as an actor – he was on that old show 30 something,” (referring to drama TV series thirtysomething). “He was Felicity’s father on Felicity, he was killed in a basement in a Friday The 13th Movie: he was on Star Trek and dozens of other shows.”
O’Malley continued to describe Anderson: “He was a smart and funny guy, a fantastic cook; he wrote three great novel which you can find on Amazon.”
He concluded the post with: “I’ll miss him but his ordeal is over.”
