The 1975’s George Daniel to spearhead Dirty Hit’s new electronic imprint, DH2
The 1975‘s independent label Dirty Hit has announced a new electronic music imprint, DH2.
News of DH2 was announced via The 1975’s drummer George Daniel on social media last night (June 17). Per Daniel’s post, he will be spearheading the new electronic label as a subsidiary of Dirty Hit. Daniel wrote: “I am so happy and excited to announce my new label dh2. Let’s go.”
The post also includes the announcement of a label launch party, due to take place on July 11 at the Phonox in Brixton. It will include performances from Daniel, Kelly Lee Owens, Oscar Farrell and TimFromTheHouse.
Tickets to the launch party will go on pre-sale at on Thursday, June 20 at 10am BST. The following day (June 21) at 10am BST, general tickets will go on sale via the DH2 website.
Further information surrounding the newly revealed DH2 label remains under wraps, including its roster and planned releases.
It’s parent label Dirty Hit formed in 2009, signing The 1975 – then known as Drive Like I Do – as its first artist. The 1975 gave the label their first taste of the success with their debut album in 2013. In 2019, it was reported that all four members of the band became shareholders in the company, and frontman Matty Healy served as the label’s creative director for four years until 2023.
Outside of The 1975, George Daniel has produced songs for the likes of his fiancé Charli XCX, Sam Smith, Beabadoobee, No Rome and more. He most recently worked on Charli XCX‘s ‘Brat’, which has scored a four-star review at NME.
