Listen to Hinds’ first ever Spanish language single, ‘En Forma’
Hinds have released their first single to be sung entirely in Spanish. Check out ‘En Forma’ below.
The third song to be shared from the Spanish indie stars’ forthcoming album ‘VIVA HINDS’ is called ‘En Forma’, which translates to ‘Fit’. The duo — Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote — embrace their mother tongue in their music for the first time.
It was inspired by a turbulent period in their lives, after Cosials went through a breakup and turned 30 in the same week. “This was the first song I could write after months of feeling absolutely devastated, immobile and pathetic,” she said. “I just wanted to get better but I just couldn’t, I couldn’t cope with this eternal race of being happier and better and cleaner and healthier.”
In an accompanying video, directed by Cosials and Perrote themselves, the duo are seen chaotically engaging in mundane daily tasks, from washing dishes to working out.
The track also explores female identity in 2024, as Perrote explained: “When I talk with my girlfriends, in the same afternoon we can chat about wars, philosophy, love and clothes. I tried to reflect on this song the chaos and huge spectrum of what it’s like to be a young woman these days. How overwhelming it can be to juggle the news, politics, our bodies, relationships and laundry.”
The single is the third song to be released from the Spanish indie rockers’ upcoming album ‘VIVA HINDS’, which will be released September 6. It follows their previously released track ‘Coffee’, and ‘Boom Boom Back‘, which featured Beck. The record will also feature a collaboration with Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten.
Last year, HINDS announced the departure of their drummer Amber Grimbergen and bassist Ade Martín. “You might feel as heartbroken as we felt, but luckily music has the power to heal an aching soul,” they shared in an Instagram post. “We’ve been through something very hurtful but we’re gonna carry on: we believe in Hinds more than anything in the world. If you’re in, we are in.”
‘VIVA HINDS’ is named in honour of the response from fans in 2015, when they were forced to change their name from Deers to Hinds after a legal threat from a similarly named band.
The record was produced by by Pete Robertson (Beabadoobee), engineered by the GRAMMY-nominated Tom Roach, and mixed by GRAMMY-winning engineer Caesar Edmunds (The Killers, Wet Leg).
‘VIVA HINDS’ is set for release on September 6 via Lucky Number. You can pre-order / pre-save the album here.
