Maren Morris Is Taking an ‘Intermission’ With New 5-Song Project Coming Soon
“Every good show needs an intermission,” Maren Morris told fans on social media on June 20.
To that end, Morris revealed an upcoming five-song project, titled Intermission, set for Aug. 2. The first song from the album is a collaboration with Julia Michaels titled “Cut!,” which releases on Friday (June 21). Earlier this week, Morris revealed the upcoming Michaels collaboration on social media, with a photo featuring Morris and Michaels in a kitchen, with Michaels seated at a table and Morris standing atop the table and wielding a chainsaw.
“Can’t wait to cathartically scream f–k at the top of our lungs together,” Morris captioned the photo. In revealing Intermission, Morris also shared the track listing for the project: “Cut!,” “I Hope I Never Fall in Love,” “Push Me Over,” “Because, Of Course,” and “This is How a Woman Leaves.”
Last year, the Grammy winner released a pair of songs entitled “The Tree” and “Get the Hell Out of Here.” The new five-song set follows her 2022 album Humble Quest and her 2019 CMA album of the year-winning project GIRL.
Earlier this month, Morris publicly came out as bisexual. “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+,” she wrote on Instagram. “Happy pride 🌈.” The caption was accompanied by a carousel of photos, including one shot of Morris holding a Pride flag. Morris filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Ryan Hurd, last October (the divorce was finalized earlier this year). Morris and Hurd welcomed their son Hayes in March 2020.
