Where is the ‘Elden Ring’ DLC access point and how to start Shadow of the Erdtree
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is finally here, and it is a massive expansion with tons waiting for you. But to get there, you will first need to venture pretty far into The Lands Between and even defeat one of the harder bosses in the game.
Given the sheer size of The Lands Between, you will need to sink dozens of hours into the game to get to the area where you can start the Elden Ring DLC. Here is where that is and what you need to do to get there.
The DLC access point for Elden Ring is found at Mohgwyn Palace, which can be accessed from a teleporter at the Mountaintops of the Giants. At Mohgwyn Palace, you will then need to defeat Mohg to enter the Land of Shadow from the statue in his arena.
The Mountaintops of the Giants region is a secret location in Elden Ring, not on the main path. It is in the far north by the capital, so you won’t be able to reach it early in your journey easily. So, you will need to get both parts of the Haligtree Secret Medallion from the Albinauric Village and from Latenna in Liurnia.
With the complete medallion, you can enter the Mountaintops of the Giants and progress through the difficult area towards the portal, which is found on the eastern edge of the area.
Mohg is a particularly tricky fight, thanks to his blood attacks and lingering fire. It is a balancing act of whether to rush in and attack him or back off and wait for him to attack and hit him during his recovery.
He is also completely optional, so you may not even see him on your initial run through the game. But, to start the DLC, you will need to best him in a fight, and a fantastic guide on how to defeat Mohg, with some crucial tips, can be found below from ‘Azzavhar‘.
That covers how you can begin your journey in Shadow of the Erdtree. If you want some initial thoughts on the DLC, check out our opinion on it.
