‘Palworld’ might be coming to PlayStation 5 at last

It looks like Palworld might finally be coming to PlayStation 5 consoles after months of speculation.

Palworld released in Early Access at the very start of 2024 for Xbox consoles and PC via Steam but talk quickly turned to a PlayStation version.

In January, PlayStation head of indies Shuhei Yoshida said the company would look at “supporting” a Palworld release while community manager Bucky said that while the game was currently an Xbox console exclusive, it “was by no means a statement that Palworld will never come to PlayStation”. Palworld’s FAQ also confirmed that a PS5 release was something developers would look into.

In March, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe then confirmed the studio was in talks to bring Palworld to other platforms, though wouldn’t confirm which platforms were on the table.

Now, a new social media post from community manager Bucky suggests that a PlayStation launch for Palworld is imminent. “Palworld,” they wrote, surrounded by green, grey and black hearts.

“I want to add more hearts, but not sure what colour would fit,” Bucky continued, before adding a series of blue hearts, which is often seen as the colour of PlayStation while green usually represents Xbox. “Looks good I think,” they added, alongside the side-eye emoji.

“Can’t wait for that PS announcement,” replied one fan with another adding Palworld on PS5, fucking finally”.

“Who knew posting coloured hearts could cause such a stir,” Bucky wrote a few hours later. “Anyway, Palworld Sakurajima update in just a few days.”

Due for release on June 27, the Sakurajima update will introduce new islands, Pals and variants to Palworld, alongside dedicated Xbox servers, new raids and bosses.

In other news, the creative director of Star Wars: Outlaws has revealed he’s pleased about the numerous comparisons to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted.
