Lil Wayne’s Hot Boys Handwritten Lyric Notebook Up for $5 Million Auction

Lil Wayne fans have the chance to add the ultimate artifact to their collection with Weezy’s 1999 notebook filled with handwritten lyrics heading to the auction desk.

Moments in Time posted the auction earlier in August and is seeking $5 million for the notepad featuring lyrics from Wayne verses on Hot Boys tracks like “We On Fire” and “I Feel.”

Both tracks landed on Hot Boys’ sophomore album Guerrilla Warfare, which was released in July 1999. The project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. “We On Fire” served as the album’s lead single and reached No. 5 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.

The iconic notebook returns tot he auction block after a years-long legal battle when Wayne tried to claim ownership of the property in 2019. A Louisiana court ultimately sided with Moments in Time once Wayne reportedly didn’t respond to the lawsuit.

The artifact was initially listed for $250,000 in 2019 and defended upping the price tag to TMZ claiming “Lil Wayne is one of the greatest rappers ever, making his handwritten song notes incredibly valuable.”

A man reportedly discovered the notebook in a car that was once owned by Cash Money Records at a dealership where he worked, which led to the legal dispute over who the proper owner of the lyric pad was.

Some of the pages were reportedly destroyed by water damage. The person who found the notepad stored it in their garage, which was flooded by the storms of 2005’s devastating Hurricane Katrina.

Per legal docs on Moments in Time’s website, Judge Kern Reese declared the anonymous person in possession of the notebook to be the rightful owner of the property during a civil court ruling in February.
