‘A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead’ reveals release date in new trailer
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has just revealed its release date as well as some gameplay in a new trailer.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is an upcoming first-person survival horror game set in the universe of the Quiet Place, where blind aliens known as Death Angels hunt people who make any noise.
The game features a protagonist with asthma, and the latest trailer shows them using their inhaler and sneaking around abandoned buildings while they try to survive the invasion. It looks like fairly standard survival-horror gameplay, just with the added twist of having to avoid any objects that may make too much noise.
There are scripted moments where the protagonist accidentally kicks a bucket or falls through some loose grating, causing quite the ruckus. These moments will no doubt be used to alert the Death Angels to your presence and ratchet up the tension in the following segements.
It’s unknown if the game will make use of built-in microphones on consoles to detect real-life sounds players make. This feature would certainly add a lot of difficulty and immersion to the experience. Until Dawn had a mechanic where it could detect the movement of your controller during times when you had to hide and remain still. Moving the controller too much would cause your character to stumble or knock an object, alerting enemies.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is due to launch on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on October 17, 2024, just in time for Hallowwn, the perfect occassion to play a survival horror game. At just £24.99, it’s likely to be a fair bit shorter than a standard triple-A game.
In other news, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and a Mafia remaster are confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month.
