Watch Childish Gambino deliver live debuts and rarities as he kicks off world tour

Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino has kicked off his world tour this week – check out some of the live debuts and rarities he performed below.

Last night (August 11), Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, began his world tour at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center. The set included songs that Glover had never performed live, as well as a few rarities that haven’t been performed in several years.

It was also Gambino’s first time taking his new album ‘Bando Stone & The New World’ out on the road.

Some of the rarities that were performed for the first time in nine years included ‘Do Ya Like’, ‘Bonfire’ and ‘Freaks And Geeks’. ‘L.E.S.’ also got its first performance since 2013.

Check out footage of the gig below, together with the setlist.

Kyann-Syan Williams wrote of ‘Bando Stone and The New World’ in a four-star review for NME: “Glover has made a record as otherworldly as his other outings. Yet, ‘Bando Stone and The New World’ stumbles slightly – where its sonic variety is exciting, it lacks a clear sense of cohesion or theme compared to his previous work – making it a bittersweet farewell to the legend of Childish Gambino.”

Last week, ahead of the album’s release, Glover explained why he was retiring Childish Gambino, chalking it up to portraying the rapper not being “fulfilling” anymore, and wanted to dedicate more time to his personal life and other avenues after the death of his father and the birth of his children.
