Emmys viewers want ‘Only Murders In The Building’ cast to host Oscars after hilarious intro
Emmys viewers are calling for the cast of Only Murders In The Building to host next year’s Oscars after their hilarious intro at last night’s (September 15) ceremony.
Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez cracked jokes throughout as they presented the first award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Ebon Moss-Bachrach for his role in The Bear.
“The Emmy Awards what a magical evening it’s been trying to remember people’s names,” said Gomez before Short interjected: “And pretending that we’ve seen their shows.”
“And when I see an actor I don’t know, I just say ‘I love your scene with Nicole Kidman.'” Martin added.

The trio then mocked each other before Gomez wrapped up with the line “What an honour it is to work with two guys who are this far away from being childless cat ladies,” in reference to JD Vance’s cat lady comments towards Kamala Harris, which were later embraced by Taylor Swift .
Many hailed the Only Murders stars, lobbying for them to host next year’s Academy Awards.
One wrote: “This chemistry! the jokes! their timing! again…Steven Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez need to be hosting the Oscars.”
Another added: “I need Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short to host the Oscar’s next year like this kind of chemistry is almost never seen anymore.”
“Just make Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez the Oscars hosts already,” one user said.
