Korean-American singer and rapper Jessi has launched her own label, UNNI.

On September 20, Jessi revealed that she has signed a management contract with entertainment agency DOD Entertainment and established her independent label, called UNNI.

The musician unveiled new profile photos on her Instagram page and tagged the new label’s account, writing in the caption: “Your UNNI is here @callmyunni💗Can’t wait to share my new chapter with you guys!!”

“We will do our best to support Jessi, who has a versatile talent and talent, in various fields as well as music,” said DOD Entertainment per Maeil Business Newspaper.

DOD Entertainment currently manages several labels, including BTOB Company, dedicated to BTOB members Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Hyunsik and Peniel, and ATOC, which houses ex-Momoland’s Nancy and former NMIXX member Jini.

This comes eight months after Jessi parted ways with her previous agency, Jay Park’s More Vision label earlier this year. News of her departure came a month after she and Park refuted reports of a dispute between them.

Her only release under the agency had been her October 2023 single ‘GUM’. In an interview with NME at the time, Jessi shared that she had been working on a full studio album: “If I do release my album next year, I want it to be more relatable to my fans, and not just pop music.”

Prior to that, Jessi was signed to Psy’s P Nation label from 2019 to 2022, during which she released hits like ‘NUNU NANA’ and ‘Zoom.

In other K-pop news, Hwasa of MAMAMOO has made her long-awaited return with her second mini-album ‘O’ and its lead single ‘NA’. The record marks her first body of work since her debut mini-album ‘Maria’ in 2020, after which she dropped a string of singles.
