Kesha launches new indie label, Kesha Records

Kesha has announced the launch of a new independent label, Kesha Records – find out more below.

Kesha Records is launched through ADA, the independent distribution division of Warner Music Group, and will house all of Kesha’s future releases, including – per Variety – a new album that’s being planned for release next year.

Kesha said of her new label in a statement: “I am proud to announce this partnership for the distribution of my music through Kesha Records. My name has become synonymous with transparency, integrity, and safety, and I want to ensure that these values are upheld for myself and any future artists signed to my label. Music has the power to connect the world, and I aspire for my work to be a beacon of light and goodness. I am excited to take control of my narrative and rewrite my story in the music business.”

She has already released one original track ‘Joyride’ and a collection of remixes via the record label. July’s ‘Joyride’ marked a new start for the musician, marking her first release – and one that she owns the rights to – since departing Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records and RCA Records.

Her final album under contract with Kemosabe and RCA Records was last year’s ‘Gag Order’. Speaking about the album in a chat with NME last year, Kesha said: “Making this album has allowed me to fall back in love with music, and it’s absolutely more vital than it ever has been for me. I’m not talking about selling albums at all, I don’t care about that, just emotionally speaking. It’s the place where I get to go and… sort my shit out with myself. That’s where me and myself go to fight it out.”

In August, Kesha revealed that she plans to re-record her debut hit single ‘TiK ToK’ once she obtains the legal rights to do so to reflect a change in lyrics from “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy” to “Wake up in the morning like fuck P Diddy“. At Coachella 2024, Reneé Rapp brought out the Kesha during her set for ‘TiK ToK’, marking the first time the adjusted lyrics were ever performed.

In recent months, Diddy has been at the center of numerous scandals and allegations, including the sexual, physical and mental abuse of his former parter Cassie Ventura. He has also been accused of abuse against many others and alleged ties to sex trafficking that resulted in a raid of his homes in Miami and Los Angeles. He has continually denied all allegations against him, and issued an apology after video footage of him attacking Cassie in 2016 was unveiled – more allegations have since been surfaced.

All of the allegations have led to the mogul being arrested in New York, and being denied bail while awaiting trial. He is being charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transporting for prostitution.
