‘Football Manager 25’ confirms release date and “new era”

Sega and Sports Interactive have announced the release date for Football Manager 25.

Twenty years ago, Sega released Football Manager 05 and kickstarted a franchise that’s still going strong today. However, the upcoming game is being described as a “new era” for the management sim.

“The future starts here. After two decades of innovation, this is year one of a new legacy,” reads the game’s description.

Featuring newly licensed Premier League teams as well as full integration of women’s football, Football Manager 25 boasts “one ecosystem”. The game will also include “football gaming’s biggest player database” while the use of Unity provides the “biggest technical and visual advancement for a generation.”

Football Manager 25 will also feature a “slicker, smarter UI”, new, volumetric player animations and enhanced graphical fidelity. “Get ready to leave your reality behind and live your game.

Step into the dugout and unlock passion that no other game can rival and discover even more reasons to love the beautiful game,” said Sega.

Sega has also confirmed that Football Manager 25 will release November 26 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox as well as being a Day One Xbox Game Pass release. A Mobile version is scheduled to launch on the same day, exclusively on Netflix.

Speaking to Eurogamer, head of Football Manager Miles Jacobson explained that “FM25 is not a continuation of FM24. This is the next generation – and this is the first chapter in the new book of Football Manager.”

Speaking about the comparisons between Football Manager and EA Sports FC, Jacobson added: “I don’t see EAFC as rivals, I think they’re a really different game. I think it’s in the same way as there are lots of games with guns, but some of those games are first-person shooters and some are tactical, and those are very different genres of game.”
