K-pop girl group tripleS has launched their latest subunit Visionary Vision (VV) with their first album ‘Performante’.

On October 23, the new 12-member sub-group comprising Jeong HyeRin, Kim YooYeon, Kim NaKyoung, Gong YuBin, Kaede, Kotone, Kwak YeonJi, Nien, Park SoHyun, Xinyu, Lynn and JiYeon debuted with their music video for ‘Hit the Floor’.

The new visual primarily features the group’s synchronised choreography for the track. Elsewhere, they storm the city carrying boomboxes as they sing and rap along to the new single. “We run against the storm / Hit me stronger with the wind / We light up the stage / Hit me stronger with the rain,” they rap in the chorus.

tripleS VV are the eighth and most recent sub-unit or “dimension” of the group to be formed. The girl group launched their first sub-unit, Acid Angel from Asia in late 2022, and unveiled its full 24-member line-up through subsequent sub-units. They dropped their first album as a complete group this May.

Each new sub-unit of the girl group is formed through fan votes after their agency, Modhaus, introduces its theme. tripleS VV is notably their first dance-focused sub-unit, and is led by member Jeong HyeRin.

“I took part in this album feeling a sense of responsibility like never before,” said Jeong at a press conference for the release per KoreaJoongAngDaily. “Twelve members aren’t a small number. I was worried whether I could lead the team in the right way, especially because I’m one of the younger ones of tripleS.

“But as we practised for the album, it felt like all 12 of us were leaders of the group, not just me,” she added.

Meanwhile, member Park SoHyun spoke about tripleS’ goal of fighting against societal expectations and stigma with ‘Performante’: “We want to break the mold of what’s been done by female idols and prove that we can be whatever we want to be.”

“We talked a lot about the difficulties that young girls endure,” she said of their previous releases. “But with this album, we’re taking a step toward overcoming such difficulties and becoming independent women.”
