‘Roblox Dress To Impress’ bans NSFW hotdog costume

Roblox has been forced to remove a hotdog costume from its hugely popular Dress To Impress game after a few players made it NSFW.

Dress To Impress is a fashion game, with players tasked with creating themed-looks before showcasing them on the runway. A recent Halloween update added a bunch of spooky options to the game, including cat ears, a kitchen knife and a complete range of witch accessories.

Less than a week after the update launched though, some players have been adjusting the colours of the hotdog costume to make it look like a giant penis. A similar colour-adjusting trick has been used by players to recreate Plankton from SpongeBob SquarePants.

After the NSFW look gained traction on social media, Roblox removed the hotdog outfit from the game yesterday (October 24) and replaced it with a much safer cupcake costume. According to the patch notes the hotdog costume was removed “due to inappropriate usage,” however Roblox did confirm it will “return soon with restrictions.”

“The misuse of the new hotdog costume in Dress To Impress has been noticed. We will remove the colorable toggles for it and leave it as a plain hotdog costume, if it is still misused we will remove the hotdog and the pumpkin accessory. We want to create a safe and friendly environment for our players and it was not intended to be used this way,” explained one Dress To Impress developer, with the game’s community manager adding: “Sadly there always has to be people who spoil it for everyone else.”

The same day, Roblox announced a new range of child safety protocols after numerous claims that the online game was “grossly inappropriate” for children. Last year, the game was temporarily blocked from PlayStation consoles over worries it could “potentially exploit” young developers.

Hitting back at the reports, Roblox boss Stefano Corazza said: “You can say, ‘Okay, we are exploiting child labour,’ right? Or, you can say we are offering people anywhere in the world the capability to get a job and an income.”

Dress To Impress launched last year. A recent Charli XCX-inspired collaboration helped Roblox have its most popular day ever while Sabrina Carpenter fans have been taking to the game to recreate the popstar’s massive ‘Short n’ Sweet’ tour.

In other news, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 has launched and fans are already calling it one of the best COD games ever.
