Borat and Ali G moderate spoof presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris
Sacha Baron Cohen has revived his Ali G and Borat characters to moderate a debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
The comedian was appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (October 24) when he was presented with Ali G’s fake goatee, beanie hat and dark glasses, and then Borat’s moustache and blazer, and proceeded to joke about what the characters might ask the two presidential nominees in a last-minute debate.
Speaking as Ali G, Baron Cohen said: “Yo, Mr. Trump. You has been convicted of 32 crimes. You stole classified documents. You boned nuff porn stars. And you ain’t never paid no taxes. Respeck! You is my hero!”
Turning to address Harris, he continued: “Yo, what is you doing later? When me look at you on the television me gets a massive election, alright. Can me just say to both of you that whatever happen, me is just glad that the next president won’t have white skin.”
After switching to Borat mode, he added: “Mr. Trump, sir, you say in Ohio that people eat the cats and the dogs. Which restaurant do they serve them at? Can you get me a reservation please? In my country, we have KFC – Kazakh Fried Cat. It pussy lickin’ good!”
And to Harris he said: “You are a woman, a person of colours and are married to a Jew. I advise you not to come to Kazakhstan. You have already made three of the four crimes punishable by death. Please do not tell me that you have also made sexy times with an underage bear.”
The election between Democrat Harris and Republican Trump is held on November 5, with polls suggesting the result is too close to call.
Baron Cohen is currently starring in Disclaimer on Apple TV+, Alfonso Cuaron’s psychological thriller series. He plays the husband of Cate Blanchett’s famous documentarian who finds out she is a prominent character in a novel that reveals a secret from her life that she has spent her life trying to hide.
Meanwhile, earlier in the year, the comic actor was the subject of allegations in Rebel Wilson’s memoir, where she claimed he acted inappropriately on the set of the 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby.
Baron Cohen denied the allegations, and later claimed a “clear victory” when they were redacted in a UK edition of the publication.
In May, Isla Fisher also commented for the first time on her divorce from Baron Cohen, thanking her fans for their “kindness and support”.
