Award-winning South Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung will be starring in the upcoming second season of Beef on Netflix.

Netflix announced her addition to the existing cast of Beef on X (formerly Twitter) on October 24. She has been tapped to play a Korea-based billionaire who owns a country club with a strong elitist culture.

The new season, consisting eight episodes, has been confirmed to feature the story of a young couple who witness a concerning fight between the man’s boss and his spouse, which sets off a complicated chain of events at the country club.

Youn is the latest to join the so-far star-studded cast of Beef season two. Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Menton and Cailee Spaeny were previously announced to star on the show, per People. Season one lead stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are set to return to Beef as executive producers. Season one director, showrunner and executive producer Lee Sung-jin will be returning to direct the second season.

Season one of Beef featured two strangers, portrayed by Yeun and Wong, whose lives get entangled after a road rage incident, which festers into a prolonged feud. Since it premiered, the comedy-drama went on to receive five Emmy Awards, including for Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Writing, and Outstanding Lead Actor.

Although neither a premiere date nor teasers have been released for the new season of Beef, they are expected to be shared in the coming months.

Youn rose to international prominence after her Academy Award-winning performance on Minari. She continued to star in roles such as Pachinko’s protagonist in both its seasons, and will be appearing in a remake of Ang Lee’s 1993 rom-com The Wedding Banquet.
