‘GTA 6’ will “blow people away” says designer who worked on the long-awaited game

Grand Theft Auto 6

A designer who worked on Grand Theft Auto 6 has said the long-awaited game will “blow people away”.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is the follow-up to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto 5 and was finally confirmed last year with a record-breaking trailer soundtracked by  Tom Petty‘s ‘Love Is A Long Road’.

However, developers haven’t released any more information about the game. In a new interview though a former Rockstar game designer, who had been working on GTA 6 before leaving the studio in 2022, has said it’ll be worth the wait.

“Obviously, I was privy to a lot of new things [like] content, story and stuff, so I’d just love to know how that’s evolved and how it’s come out the other end,” Ben Hinchliffe told the GTAVIoclock podcast (via Dexerto).

“You only have to look at how every game Rockstar has done has evolved in some way. You could argue that every element of the game moves forward in terms of it feeling more realistic and people acting and behaving more realistic,” he continued, with Rockstar releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 after GTA 5.

“So, I just think it will blow people away. It will sell an absolute ton as it always does. People will be talking about it for ages afterwards just like they did with GTA 5 and I’m really, really excited for people to get their hands on it and play it, just because I think [Rockstar] has raised the bar again. They always do, and they have done it again on GTA 6.”

However earlier this year, another former Rockstar developer said fans might be “disappointed” with GTA 6 after an 11 year wait. ““I don’t think it is going to be wildly different from GTA 5.”

GTA 6 is due for release at some point in 2025 though if it is delayed, fans won’t find out until next year apparently. In August, Rockstar confirmed the game was still due to launch on time though.

In other news, Doja Cat has been praised for dressing up as a niche character from cult N64 game Conker’s Bad Fur Day.
