‘GTA 6’ boss mocked for 2018 comments about not launching during Trump presidency
Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser is being mocked online for saying he was “thankful” not to be releasing GTA 6 while Donald Trump was president.
In 2018, Houser spoke to GQ about the release of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. During the interview, he said he was “thankful” GTA 6 wasn’t being released while Donald Trump was president. “It’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did,” he explained.
“Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry. It is scary but it’s also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd. It’s hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast,” he added.
However those comments have come back to bite him with Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election earlier today (November 6) after defeating Kamala Harris.
“This is genuinely hilarious now, who could’ve predicted that 7 years later, right on the year GTA 6 finally releases, Trump is re-elected,” wrote one fan, resharing the interview.

“GTA 6 will be delayed by four years now,” replied one fan, with other fans jokingly suggesting Rockstar will now push back the release date. However Houser left the company in 2020.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is due to launch some time next year, with one former developer saying the game will “blow people away” and that the studio has once again raised the bar.
Before that though, Donald Trump will be sworn in as President Of The United States Of America, with his inauguration due to take place January 20, 2025. Declaring victory earlier today Trump said, “I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve.” However people on social media aren’t as optimistic, with one declaring “we are so over as a nation”.
