The streamer has shared a teaser video which showcases the names of the eight episodes to come in season 5. The titles are: The Crawl, The Vanishing Of, The Turnbow Trap, Sorcerer, Shock Jock, Escape From Camazotz, The Bridge and The Rightside Up.
The video also includes new information about when the final season is set, with the words: “In the fall of 1987, one last adventure begins.”
This comes as part of Netflix’s celebration of today (November 6) being ‘Stranger Things Day’, as it’s the day that Will Byers (Noah Schapp) went missing in the first season.
Stranger Things season five will pick up after the epic battle in the Upside Down at the end of season four, which took place in March 1986.
It saw Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) die, Max (Sadie Sink) left almost fatally wounded, and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) vanquishing Vecna (Jamie Campbell-Bower) – for now. In a chilling final speech, Will confirms to Mike (Finn Wolfhard) that Vecna is “hurting but he’s still alive”, and that the gang has to kill him.
In 2022, ahead of the launch of season four, creator and showrunner Matt Duffer told NME that the fifth season will feel different to the others from the start. He said: “Typically in the previous seasons, everything wraps up in a nice bow. Four and five are really [connected] together.
“[With five], there’ll be no wind-up time – like even this season, you get to experience the kids and what they’re going through in high school before things start to escalate. Then it gets crazier and crazier and crazier – that’s typically the trajectory. Five, you’re just going to be right in the middle of it so it’s going to feel very, very different.”
In October, we learned that The Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont will break his 11-year retirement to helm two episodes of the final season.
Speculation about the events of season five has already begun, with fans recently believing Brown to have accidentally revealed details of Eleven’s fate. In September, Gaten Matarazzo (who plays Dustin) told NME how it felt to be wrapping up the show, saying it was “satisfying” and “a cathartic process”.
Stranger Things season five comes to Netflix in 2025.
