Watch The 1975’s George Daniel do viral ‘Apple’ dance at Charli XCX’s ‘Brat’ tour
Charli XCX‘s fiance, The 1975‘s drummer George Daniel, finally did the ‘Apple’ dance at her concert at London’s O2 Arena last night (November 28). Check it out below.
The show in the capital came as part of her UK victory lap following a whirlwind year – which included the cultural phenomenon of ‘Brat’ summer, inspired by her acclaimed sixth album and subsequent remix record.
Part of ‘Brat”s world domination came in the form of a viral TikTok dance to the album’s 11th track ‘Apple’. The dance was created by influencer Kelley Heyer and has become a staple part of both the UK ‘Brat’ tour and the previous ‘Sweat’ tour with Troye Sivan, where each night members of the crowd are selected to perform the dance on the arena’s big screen.
Many celebrities have also given it a go, including Dave Grohl, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Joe Jonas, Stephen Colbert and Anthony Ramos, but Charli has frequently taken to social media to complain about her fiancé’s reluctance to try the choreography.
However, that all changed last night, when Daniel appeared on the screen during Charli’s performance of the track to finally do the dance. Check out the fan-shot footage below.

Despite the viral success of ‘Apple’, Charli revealed earlier this year that the song was “nearly” axed from the album entirely.
The track was also co-written and produced by Daniel, along with ‘Club Classics’ – where Charli declares “I wanna dance with George”.
It’s not the first time they’ve collaborated, with Daniel producing some of the tracks from her 2022 LP ‘Crash’. They also teamed up on the song ‘Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)’ for the soundtrack of A24’s horror film Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.
The two also worked on a remix of Caroline Polachek’s ‘Welcome to My Island‘ in early 2023 and on Charli’s track with Sam Smith: ‘In The City‘.
Fans had hoped Daniel would do the dance at a previous show in his hometown of Manchester earlier this week after Charli regularly gave shout-outs to her future husband who was “in the house”.
Elsewhere during her London gig, Charli brought out friends Robyn, Caroline Polachek, and Yung Lean.
In our four-star review of ‘Brat’, NME wrote: “It all paints a picture of who XCX is in 2024. Growing pains, grief and aching doubts come alongside self-confidence, celebration and the knowledge of the place XCX holds in the musical landscape – indeed, she kicks off ‘360’ with the knowing: “I went my own way and I made it / I’m your favourite reference baby”.
