When is ‘A Man On The Inside’ season two coming out?

Netflix sitcom A Man On The Inside is a hit with critics and audiences, but what do we know about season two? Read on for all the info.

The show follows a retired professor, played by Ted Danson, who decides to move into the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco in order to help a private investigator, Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), find a missing heirloom. He also reconnects with his estranged daughter Emily, played by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Mary Elizabeth Ellis.

A Man On The Inside sees Danson reuniting with Michael Schur (Parks And Recreation) after previously working together on The Good Place. All eight episodes of the show landed on the streaming service on November 21.

The show is based on the 2020 Chilean documentary film The Mole Agent, directed by Malte Alberdi, which was nominated for an Oscar.

It has been heralded by critics since its release, sitting on an impressive 97 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety dubbed it “perfect television”, while The Guardian said that “Danson is comedy perfection in this unbelievably sweet show”.

When is A Man On The Inside season two coming out?

With the show being such a recent release on Netflix, there is no official word yet on whether it has been commissioned for a second season.

It raced to the top spot on the platform’s Top 10 shows in the US, which indicates that Netflix will be happy with its performance, making it likely that good news will be on the way for fans of the show.

For their part, the show’s creators have admitted that they too are waiting with baited breath to find out whether they will be making more episodes in the future.

Schur told Deadline: “We’re sort of in a fingers crossed, we’ll [cross] that bridge when we come to it, kind of a deal. But I will say that there is no shortage of ideas from me and from other writers about what we might do in a future season. Fingers crossed, we’ll see.”

He also told The Hollywood Reporter: “We pitched it to them as a series, not a limited thing. We won’t know the reality of that for a couple weeks at least, probably more like a month or two.”

“I told Netflix, I’ll do this forever if you want to keep paying me to write seasons of a show where Ted Danson is an undercover detective. I will sign up for this through 2050 if you let me.”
