In the fourth episode of the new season of the hit BBC show, the three players who volunteered to sacrifice themselves – and leave the train to the castle before the game began – returned.

Community development manager Fozia, former British diplomat Alexander and market trader and gardener Jack were all brought back during the mission, in which they were suspended in cages in the air and the other players had to find golden coins to get them down. The twist was, only two of the three returning players could enter the game.

Yorkshireman Jack was the unlucky one, left in his cage as the players lowered Fozia and Alexander to the ground.

The result left some fans unhappy, as many took to social media to share their commiserations that Jack wouldn’t be a part of the show going forward.

One X user wrote: “Jack??? Our Yorkshire, 6ft5, garden hero. I am sorry they failed you. They are all traitors now in my eyes”

Another, Lindsay Bullivant, wrote: “Fuming that we have missed out on Jack for a second time, he had so much potential to be an entertaining player”

Alex Harris wrote: “Jack would have been a really good addition this year, done him dirty here twice!” Another fan posted: “That has to be the most savage exit ever on the show”

Emotions were running high throughout the episode, as the roundtable led to 20-year-old Freddie facing intense accusations, and doctor (and Faithful) Karim eventually being banished.

The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, and continues tomorrow (January 9) at 9pm on BBC One.
