Acting legend Christopher Walken has admitted he has no modern technology, including the internet and mobile phones. He also said he is only able to watch Severance, the show he stars in, thanks to being sent DVDs.

“I don’t have technology” he said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “I only have a satellite dish on my house. So I’ve seen Severance on DVDs that they’re good enough to send me”.

Walken also confessed to not using current forms of connection: “I don’t have a cell phone. I’ve never emailed or, what do you call it, Twittered”.

Having acted since the ’50s, the Oscar winner has appeared in classics such as The Deer Hunter, Pulp Fiction, and Catch Me If You Can. His unusual delivery has also made him a cult figure, appearing in music videos and TV sketches that have become pop culture moments.

Even with his illustrious CV, his role in Severance stands out. He called it: “A very special job. It was mysterious, but funny and scary, which I’ve always felt was a good combination. Then there was the fact of (show director) Ben Stiller. I was in a play with him 30 years ago, and his mother and father were friends of mine”.

As well as the Apple TV+ show, he appeared in last year’s blockbuster Dune: Part Two and UK comedy The Outlaws. Despite this busy schedule, he insists he still has the mentality of a working actor, going from job to job.

“‘Why did you make that choice?’ I hear that a lot” he says, “and the truth is I don’t make choices. I take jobs. I take the next best thing. And that has to do with art, who you’re going to be with, sometimes with the location, how much they’re going to pay you. All sorts of things. I wish I could make choices”.

Last year, Walken recalled auditioning for the original Star Wars movie alongside Carrie Fisher. He also talked about his infamous “more cowbell” sketch on Saturday Night Live, saying it “ruined” his life.
