IVE share new single ‘Attitude’ featuring sample of Suzanne Vega’s ‘Tom’s Dinner’

IVE have returned with their third mini-album ‘IVE Empathy’, alongside a music video for title track ‘Attitude’.

‘Attitude’ is one of two title tracks for ‘IVE Empathy’, the other being the song ‘Rebel Heart’, which was released last month. Wonyoung is credited as a co-lyricist on ‘Attitude’, alongside frequent IVE collaborator Seo Ji-eum. The song also notably samples Suzanne Vega’s ‘Tom’s Dinner’.

“We have focused on the theme of self-love so far, but this time, we took a leap forward by talking about empathy, so that we can connect with people across various generations, eras, and perspectives,” Wonyoung said of ‘IVE Empathy’ during a press conference for its release.

The other songs on ‘IVE Empathy’ are ‘Flu’, ‘Thank U’, ‘TKO’ and ‘You Wanna Cry’, the last of which interpolates Whitney Houston‘s seminal hit ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’.

‘IVE Empathy’ marks IVE’s first body of work in nine months. The six-piece last released their second mini-album ‘IVE Switch’ in April 2024, which featured title tracks ‘HEYA’ and ‘Accendio’.

In the time between releases, IVE have embarked and completed their first-ever world tour, titled ‘Show What I Have’. The band performed 37 concerts in total across 19 countries in regions such as Asia, US, Europe and South America. IVE also made their Lollapalooza debut last year.

In November 2024, IVE also teamed up with French DJ David Guetta to release the English-language single ‘Supernova Love’, which notably samples the late Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s single ‘Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence’ from the 1983 film of the same name.
