The boyband will sing their 2008 hit ‘Greatest Day’, in honour of it prominently featuring in the opening sequence of Sean Baker’s sex worker drama Anora.
Take That currently comprises three of its original members – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen. There will likely be another former member present at the ceremony though, with Robbie Williams’ CGI chimp biopic Better Man nominated for the Best Special Visual Effects award.
Jeff Goldblum will also be performing on stage, playing the piano during the In Memoriam section, which honours those from the movie industry who have passed away in the last 12 months.
Goldblum stars in the Broadway adaptation Wicked, which is in the running for seven BAFTAs including Leading Actress for Cynthia Erivo and Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande. He’s also a jazz musician, and recently announced his new album ‘Still Blooming’, which will feature collaborations with Erivo, Grande and Scarlett Johansson.
Anora is nominated for seven BAFTAs, including Best Film, Director and Leading Actress for Mikey Madison.
It stars Madison as a stripper and sex worker from Brooklyn who impulsively gets married to Ivan, the son of a Russian oligarch – much to the unhappiness of his family, who set out to get the marriage annulled.
Other songs on the film’s soundtrack include Blondie’s 1979 single ‘Dreaming’ and t.A.T.u’s 2002 hit ‘All The Things She Said’. Its original score is by Matthew Hearon-Smith, a frequent collaborator of director Baker.
Papal thriller Conclave has the most BAFTA nominations this year with 12, with Emilia Pérez close behind with 11, and The Brutalist following with nine.
The BAFTAs ceremony will be hosted by David Tennant, and takes place on February 16.
