Poppy has launched a new T-shirt poking fun at a mix-up with Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante at the Grammys 2025.

LaPlante was mistaken for Poppy during an interview at the awards ceremony in LA last Sunday (February 2). The latter’s collaborative single with Knocked Loose, ‘Suffocate’, was nominated for Best Metal Performance along with Spiritbox’s ‘Cellar Door’.

When being asked about the nod on the red carpet, LaPlante decided to go along with the awkward error and answer as if she were Poppy.

After giving the interviewer a look of confusion, LaPlante responded: “I am Poppy, and I am really happy to be here nominated with Knocked Loose. I really hope we win.”

The Spiritbox frontwoman went on to answer on behalf of the real Poppy, who had been nominated in the past. “I hope it’s me [who wins] or Spiritbox and Courtney,” she told the reporter.

Now, after sharing a snippet of the interview on Instagram as part of her Grammys post, Poppy has released a special new T-shirt on her merch store. The black-and-white tee features a printed name tag reading: “Hello, I am Poppy.”

In the caption to announce the new item, she jokingly wrote: “We are all Poppy.” The T-shirt is currently only available on Poppy’s US store, priced at $30. It is expected to ship in mid-March.

Elsewhere, Spotify has jumped on the viral Grammys moment by using a photo of LaPlante on its Kickass Metal Playlist, along with the note: “Poppy on top of today’s best Metal playlist.”

Poppy and Spiritbox ultimately lost out on the Best Metal Performance award to French band Gojira, who won for ‘Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!)’, which they performed at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Knocked Loose and Poppy’s ‘Suffocate’ landed at Number 17 on NME‘s 50 best songs of 2024 list at the end of last year. In November, they played an epic rendition of the collaborative track together on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

During a recent interview with NME, Poppy talked about joining forces with Knocked Loose on ‘Suffocate’.

“Energy is at an all-time high for a Knocked Loose show,” she explained. “People have come to leave it all on the floor. It’s hard to not smile when you’re met with that energy on the front line.”

Poppy released her sixth studio album, ‘Negative Spaces’, on November 15. Meanwhile, Spiritbox are due to drop their second studio record, ‘Tsunami Sea’, on March 7 via Pale Chord in partnership with Rise Records.

In May, Poppy will open for BABYMETAL at The O2 in London. Find any remaining tickets here.
