In other McCartney-related news, he recently paid tribute to the late “beautiful, sweet” Marianne Faithfull who passed away on January 30.

He took to his official Instagram account to share a black and white photo of him alongside Faithfull, writing: “What sad news that Marianne Faithfull has passed away. She came into my life in the Sixties and was a beautiful, sweet 17 year old who radiated innocent joy. Then through the years I was lucky enough to run into her and to become a life-long friend.

“It’s very sad to think that I won’t be meeting her again but my memories of our encounters over the years will always bring me joy. May god bless you Marianne and guide you in the next steps of your journey – Paul.”

McCartney has also criticised proposed changes to copyright law, saying if it goes ahead it will allow AI to rip off artists and result in a “loss of creativity”.

“When we were kids in Liverpool, we found a job that we loved, but it also paid the bills,” he said during an interview on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. “You get young guys, girls, coming up, and they write a beautiful song, and they don’t own it, and they don’t have anything to do with it. And anyone who wants can just rip it off.”

“The truth is, the money’s going somewhere… Somebody’s getting paid, so why shouldn’t it be the guy who sat down and wrote ‘Yesterday’?”
