‘Metal Gear Solid 3’ remake finally has a release date

The long-awaited remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater finally has a release date.

Originally shared in 2004, Metal Gear Solid 3 was the fifth game in the stealth franchise and acted as a prequel to the entire series. Nearly two decades later and it’s still considered one of the greatest video games of all time.

A remake was officially confirmed in 2023 after months of speculation and now Konami have confirmed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released August 28 on PlayStation 5. The news came during Sony’s recent State Of Play presentation, with developers also sharing a new trailer. Check it out below:

“Our most important mission was not to let the fans down,” said game producer Noriaki Okamura in a dedicated blog.

“At the early stages, we had planned on only overhauling the graphics to modern standards, but we just didn’t think it would be satisfying to play if that was the only update, so in the end we remade nearly all the animations  and found ways to refresh almost every facet of the game, as well as fully realising elements that were held back by technical limitations at the time of the original.”

“We knew that not only would this remake need to satisfy Metal Gear Solid fans, it would also have to stand strong enough on its own merits for new players to enjoy. We decided to take the approach of modernising the gameplay only where it was really needed, and otherwise preserve the original experience of the game as faithfully as possible,” he added.

The remade Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater features a third-person camera view, the ability to change camo on the fly and new easter eggs to uncover. It also features the return of the Snake vs Monkey special game mode.

Pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater are now live and will give players 48-hours of early access to the game.
