This is when you’ll be able to play ‘Borderlands 4’
The team behind Borderlands 4 has finally confirmed when the long-awaited sequel will be released via an explosive new trailer.
Last August, Borderlands 4 was officially confirmed by Gearbox Software and 2K Games. “In this next instalment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet,” they said.
Not much else was revealed about the sequel to 2019’s Borderlands 3 but it was said the game would be released at some point in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
During Sony’s recent State Of Play presentation, developers unveiled a new trailer for Borderlands 4 and confirmed the game would launch September 23, 2025.
The 70-second clip features the sort of gun-wielding chaos we’ve come to expect from the Borderlands games. “Borderlands 4 is a mayhem-fueled looter shooter, jam-packed with billions of weapons, outrageous enemies, and intense co-op action. Explore a dangerous hidden planet Kairos as one of four new badass Vault Hunters,” reads the official description.
”Break free from the oppressive Timekeeper, a ruthless dictator who dominates the masses from on high. Now, a world-altering catastrophe threatens his perfect Order, unleashing mayhem across the planet. Ignite a resistance and blast your way through mechanical monstrosities, bloodthirsty bandits, and vicious beasts, with new traversal mechanics like: double jumping, gliding, dodging, fixed-point grappling and more. “
Following the flop of the Borderlands movie, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford took to social media and wrote: “So what you’re saying is: You like what my friends and I do with our Borderlands video games even more than you like what some of the biggest and best cast and crew of film makers on the planet have done. I’m super flattered! We’re working extra hard for you on what’s next….”
It was later revealed that the poor response to the film, which starred Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, actually boosted the popularity of the video games. “Even though the film was disappointing, it actually benefited our catalogue sales.”
Meanwhile, it’s also been reported that Borderlands 4 will have fewer fart jokes than previous entries in the series.
In other news, an expansion for Lies Of P has been confirmed, with this summer’s Overture DLC acting as a prequel to the hit video game. A sequel is also in the works.
