‘Lies Of P’ is getting a prequel expansion this summer
An expansion for Lies Of P has been confirmed, with Overture acting as a prequel to the hit video game.
Released in 2023, Lies Of P is a “thrilling soulslike that takes the story of Pinocchio, turns it on its head, and sets it against the darkly elegant backdrop of the Belle Epoque era”.
Players take control of a puppet who’s awakened by a mysterious voice that then guides you through the plagued city of Krat, “a once lively place that has been poisoned by madness and bloodlust.”
Shortly after the twisted fairytale was released, director Ji-Won Choi said the team were planning a sequel. Last year, the sequel for Lies Of P was properly announced by publisher Neowiz and now details of an expansion have been confirmed.
The wintery Overture expansion will “transport you to the city of Krat in its final days. On the brink of the Puppet Frenzy massacre, you follow a legendary Stalker—a mysterious guide—through untold stories and chilling secrets.” There’s no firm release date just yet but developers are hoping it’ll be out this summer.
“As Geppetto’s deadly puppet, you’ll journey through Krat and its surroundings, uncover hidden backstories, and face epic battles that shape the past and future of Lies Of P,” reads the official description. “Dare to unravel the mysteries of the past, for in the heart of darkness lies the key to unlocking the secrets of a timeless tale reborn.”
“We knew that the end of Lies Of P was just the beginning for what our team had in store for fans,” said game director Jiwon Choi. “Lies Of P: Overture allows us the opportunity to fully explore the past and present of our universe. We are grateful for our community’s patience as our team took the time to tell the story we’ve always wanted to share.”
“For the DLC and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve in areas we have room to grow,” he explained last year. “It might sound simple, but I find that sticking to the basics is anything but easy. We hope to turn your anticipation into delight.”
In other news, the long-awaited remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater finally has a release date, with developers saying their “most important mission was not to let the fans down”.
