These are the best gaming soundtracks of 2024, according to players
Members of gaming community ResetERA have voted for their favourite soundtracks of 2024 – check out the results below.
Last December, as part of ResetERA’s end of year roundup, members were given six weeks to vote for their favourite gaming soundtracks of 2024.
“This thread will place a spotlight on the industry’s musical talent and expose people to great video game music that they haven’t heard before. It will also host a (hopefully) comprehensive archive of the year’s game music and other related information,” explained organisers.
The results of the vote have now been shared, with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth topping the poll. 90 ResetERA members included Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in their top ten, with 65 naming it as their favourite soundtrack of 2024.
Metaphor: ReFantazio came in second with 58 votes and Astro Bot came third with 50 votes. “A feel-good soundtrack for a feel-good game, Astro Bot brings with it a perky, plucky, happy-go-lucky series of songs, themes, and music that really put a smile on my face. They’re well-composed and absolutely fitting for Astro’s adventures,” wrote one user.
Persona 3 Reload and Stellar Blade rounded out the top five.

“Not really surprised at Rebirth winning. Final Fantasy music is just too strong and it was the clear favourite among the votes. Honestly an absolutely insane year for soundtracks, definitely recommend people check out any game they missed out on in that archive,” wrote one user.
“Hard to argue against any of these in their positions. Rebirth, like Remake, did an insane job with adapting Uematsu’s classic tunes, but also the sheer volume of brand new, outstanding music is just mind-blowing to me. I have no doubt the composers are going to pull out all the stops for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake finale,” added another.
Last December it was reported that a planned expansion for Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth was scrapped so developers could focus on the third and final game in the remake project. The game is currently rumoured to be released in 2027 but developers have assured fans they won’t need to buy a PlayStation 6 (also rumoured to be launching in 2027) to play it.
