Tony Hawk responds to rumours of a new ‘Pro Skater’ game

Tony Hawk has responded to the many rumours that a new Pro Skater game is set to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was first released in 1999 and spawned a number of sequels and spin-offs though the last mainline game was released in 2015. The remastered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 came in 2021 but plans for a refreshed take on the third and fourth games in the franchise were scrapped when developers Vicarious Visions were acquired by Activision Blizzard.

In 2024, Tony Hawk hinted that a new Pro Skater game that “fans will truly appreciate” was in the works and earlier this month, professional skater Tyshawn Jones revealed he was involved in a new Tony Hawk’s game. Last week, Call Of Duty fans discovered a date underneath the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater logo in the revived Grind level of Black Ops 6. Hours later, a similar countdown appeared on the official Tony Hawk Pro Skater website.

Now, the skateboarding legend has responded to the rumours that a new game is set to be announced March 4 at 6:30pm GMT.

“Looks like a teaser for something related to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater has been found in Black Ops 6’s Grind MP map! Announcement on March 4,” wrote Call Of Duty fan account CharlieIntel on X before both Hawk and the official Xbox account replied with the side eye emoji.

“Please Mr. Tony sir, American Wasteland remastered please,” wrote one fan. “Never played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4, so you have no idea how excited I would be if they’re remaking those 2 games,” said another.

Reflecting on the legacy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater last year, Hawk wrote: My intention and expectation for the game was mostly for the enjoyment of skateboarders. I had no idea it would transcend a niche market to become a massive success and – as some have argued – change the course of skateboarding’s popularity (and possibly even skate trick evolution). It definitely changed the course of my life, and is a big reason that I get to ride my skateboard for a living to this very day. And most of the featured characters are still out there ripping and representing skateboarding’s diversity in the best ways possible.”

In other news, Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has confirmed there is “some talk” of an Elden Ring movie – but he might not be involved because he still has a book to finish.
