Tyler, The Creator responds to store owner posting security footage without his consent: “Weird as fuck”
Tyler, The Creator has called out a store owner who allegedly posted security footage of the artist without his consent.
On an Instagram Story shared yesterday (February 26), Tyler took the store owner to task for sharing the footage, which features him and Lil Yachty – who is currently the opening act on Tyler’s ongoing ‘Chromakopia’ world tour – perusing the store in their free time.
“Went to a shop with the bro and these n****s posted some random hidden camera footage for some weird ass reason,” he began. “Likes, clout, proof we were there? Idk but I do know n****s is weird as fuck and never got slapped before cause someone that knows bounds wouldn’t do this”.
“Nothing in your mind said that wasn’t weird?” he continued. “N****s ain’t even know they were being recorded and then you upload it?”
“I hate you n****s man. I be iffy on goin in n****s stores cause of shit like this. PSA if you aren’t weird with folks and they feel comfortable they will come back. Did y’all n****s grow up with parents that told you stop or no?!
“And I will keep ‘complaining’ about this shit cause I’m not one of them passive n****s I will tell you when I don’t like it, be cool man.”

Billboard pointed out that the topic of Tyler’s privacy in public has been a particularly sensitive one, covering it in ‘Noid’, his standout single from ‘Chromakopia’. “No cameras out, please, I wanna eat in peace/ Don’t wanna take pictures with you n****s or bitches/Nervous system is shook way before 19”, he rapped in its first verse.
NME‘s Fred Garratt-Stanley wrote in a three-star review of ‘Chromakopia’: “On ‘Noid’, he incisively documents this mental turmoil (exacerbated by intense fan scrutiny), spitting “Triple checking if I lost the door / I know every creak that’s in the floor / Motherfucker I’m paranoid“.”
Just yesterday (February 26), Tyler announced his first-ever Asia tour, making his live debut in Manila and Bangkok. Fans have since responded with pleas to tour other parts of the region, particularly in Southeast Asia, where he has yet to tour extensively.
Tyler will launch the tour in Tokyo on September 9, followed by dates in Seoul, Manila and Bangkok. Through the Asia trek, Tyler will be supported by former NME Cover stars Paris Texas.
‘Chromakopia’, which also landed at number 44 on NME‘s best albums of 2024 list, is the eighth studio album by the former Odd Future member. The rapper is in contention for International Artist of the Year at the forthcoming BRIT Awards 2025, which takes place this Saturday (March 1).
