2NE1’s Park Bom goes on hiatus for her “mental well-being”
2NE1 singer Park Bom will be going on a short hiatus in favour of her “mental wellbeing”, a representative has said.
Today (February 28), Park Bom’s representative told South Korean news outlet StarNews that the singer would be going on a break for her “mental well-being”,, as translated by Koreaboo. The statement comes short after fans claimed that the singer was not as “active” as her bandmates during 2NE1’s recent Macau concerts, on top of her absence from a livestream held post-concert.
Park’s representative explained to StarNews that “many of the videos that sparked controversy only highlighted her struggling moments”, which was a result of her “exert[ing] a lot of energy in the early stages” of the show. “She tried her best, but her stamina couldn’t keep up,” the representative added.
the 2NE1 singer will take a break from scheduled activities until the quartet return to Seoul for the final shows of their ‘Welcome Back’ tour on April 12 and 13. “She plans to focus on improving her stamina and managing her mental wellbeing to prepare thoroughly for 2NE1’s upcoming Seoul encore concert,” said the representative
Macau concerts marked the quartet’s last overseas shows for their ‘Welcome Back’ reunion tour. 2NE1 first kicked off the tour in October 2024, before performing in numerous cities across Japan, Southeast Asia and East Asia since late 2024.
2NE1 made their debut in 2009 under YG Entertainment, and later became one of the most successful second-generation K-pop acts. They released a slew of hits throughout their career, including ‘Fire’, ‘I Am The Best’, ‘Come Back Home’ and many others.
