Måneskin’s Damiano David shares contemplative new solo single ‘Next Summer’

Damiano David has shared a contemplative new solo track, ‘Next Summer’.

The new song is the latest of the Måneskin frontman’s numerous solo singles released in the last few months, including ‘Silverlines’, ‘Born With A Broken Heart’ and a cover of  Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’.

The acoustic ballad has a deeper meaning than first appears, as David explained: “At first listen, the song speaks about youthful love – an unrequited summer romance. But on a deeper level, it reveals a much larger reflection. It’s an allegory of life – how sometimes we can be prisoners of ourselves, our fears, our insecurities, our inability to change. Our failure to see the world and life from a different perspective in the crucial and defining moments of existence.”

Meanwhile, the song’s music video was filmed in an Italian prison.

Speaking to NME earlier this year, he gave some insight into what fans could expect from his debut solo album. When asked if the record would be a “diverse and personal affair”, he replied: “I think it’s safe to say yes.”

David added: “It’s going to be very excessive, very dramatic, very theatrical, I would say. It’s definitely more personal. It’s about the drama of being alive; especially under the circumstances.”

The Italian artist is set to hit the road later this year, having made his solo live debut in New York last October. After the initial tour announcement, more dates were added due to “phenomenal demand”.

Writing on social media, David said: “I’m absolutely blown away by your response to this tour so far. I cannot wait to sing and dance with you all next year.” See all tour dates below.
