Nathan Fielder shares first look at ‘The Rehearsal’ season two

Nathan Fielder has shared a first look at The Rehearsal season two, which will debut on HBO and Max on April 20.

The surreal comedy series sees Fielder help real people prepare for major moments in their lives by constructing entire rooms, houses and other settings in order to simulate every possible outcome.

Fielder is famously extremely secretive about the project, so details about the second season remain scarce.

On Thursday (February 27), however, he shared a 20-second teaser for the new season. The short clip sees Fielder wearing his laptop harness as he overlooks the dressing of a set –  five identical rooms constructed in an empty warehouse. You can watch the clip below.

“The Rehearsal” Season 2 will debut on HBO and Max on April 20. The network also released a teaser trailer for Nathan Fielder‘s surreal and twisted dark comedy series, which helps real people prepare for life’s biggest moments through freakishly high-budget simulations.

Per HBO, in Season two of the series, “the urgency of Fielder’s project grows as he decides to put his resources toward an issue that affects us all.”

The first season of The Rehearsal saw Fielder help trivia fan Kor come clean to his friend Trish about not having a master’s degree.

To help with this confrontation, Fielder built a life-sized replica of the bar in which Kor planned to make his confession, hired an actor to play Trish as well as setting up a meeting between the two, so the actor could really inhabit the subject and predict any and all eventualities.

In one of the five other episodes, a woman named Angela rehearsed for motherhood with Fielder stepping in as a co-parent.

Alongside meta explorations of acting, belief and trust, the “silly, serious and complicated” show laid out a very specific series of moral dilemmas as Fielder wrestled with the real-world effects of his trial runs. As he reminded the actors repeatedly during episode four, ‘The Fielder Method’, “If you get it wrong, you could ruin someone’s life”.

The Rehearsal season two will arrive on HBO and Max on April 20 in the US. Viewers in the UK will be able to stream the show on Amazon Prime Video, where season one is currently available.
