How to capture monsters in ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’
Unlike other games in the Monster Hunter series, capturing isn’t introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds until the post-credits endgame story. The tutorialization of it has been improved drastically, but it does mean that you may be left wondering how to do it after it is briefly introduced in the story.
So, here’s the steps to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to capture monsters in ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’
To capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, you need to damage the monster until it is weak, trap the monster in a Shock or Vine trap, and then tranquillize it with Tranq Bombs.
After releasing a few Tranq Bombs when the monster is weak and trapped, it will fall asleep, and you will have captured it.
The icon you are looking for to see if a monster is capturable is the skull icon on the mini-map. This will usually appear after the monster has moved two or three times. Once you see this icon, you can either capture it right away or do a little bit more damage and then capture it.

Once ready, place down a Shock or Vine trap, or use one your Palico places. Then, stand by the monster when it is trapped and release two or three Tranq Bombs. Two is usually enough, but three may be needed sometimes.

Keep in mind that harder monsters and Tempered monsters will be harder to capture due to their increased strength. So, you will need to either weaken them more before you try to capture them or use more Tranq Bombs in quick succession.
