Green Day cancel final show of Australian tour due to Cyclone Alfred
Green Day have been forced to cancel the final show of their Australian tour due to the Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The band were coming to the end of the Australian leg of their ‘Saviors’ tour, with the last gig having been scheduled to go down at the Gold Coast’s Robina Stadium on Wednesday (March 5).
However, on Tuesday (March 4), they announced that they had no choice but to call the show off due to the projected extreme weather conditions that are set to hit the Queensland area later this week.
Writing on their Instagram Stories, they posted: “Hey Australia, unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control, tomorrow’s Gold Coast show has been cancelled.”

“With Cyclone Alfred bringing some seriously nasty weather, it’s just not possible to go ahead safely. We know this is a huge disappointment, and we’re just as bummed as you are. Stay safe out there!”
The Robina Stadium has also issued a statement: “We know how excited fans were for the concert and we share your disappointment. Concert organisers explored every opportunity to go ahead with the event, but the safety and travel certainty of concert goers, performers and staff cannot be ensured under current conditions.”
Cyclone Alfred is expected to be the first such extreme storm to impact Queensland in more than 50 years, with wind speeds of up to 130km/h and expected rainfall of 450mm in the space of three days.
The trio are scheduled to return to the UK this summer to headline Download 2025 alongside Sleep Token and KoRn. Billie Joe Armstrong and co. released their 14th and latest studio album, ‘Saviors’, in early 2024.
Last month, they put out a casting call for a new film inspired by their early days together. The comedy movie will be titled New Years Rev, with production currently under way in Oklahoma. It will tell the story of three friends travelling across the US as they mistakenly believe they will be opening for Green Day at a New Year’s show in Los Angeles.
The band also joined forces with Billie Eilish at the FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles in January, where they playing the 2009 song ‘Last Night On Earth’.
