‘Reacher’ star Alan Ritchson is desperate to play Batman in James Gunn’s reboot
Reacher star Alan Ritchson has admitted he’d love to play Batman in James Gunn‘s forthcoming reboot The Brave And The Bold.
Since Gunn took control of DC Studios as co-CEO – and director of the upcoming Superman film – fans have been clamouring for Robert Pattinson‘s version of Batman to be incorporated into Gunn’s DC universe.
But Gunn recently ruled this out and casting is yet to go ahead for his movie The Brave And The Bold.
Now when asked in an interview with WIRED, if Ritchson was likely to take up the role, he said: “What’s amazing to me about this rumour of the Batman desire and the zeitgeist, is the fact that James Gunn has personally announced publicly on his Twitter or X or whatever, ‘LOL, he’s not playing Batman. He is not playing Batman!’ And this thing will not die.”
He continued: “I get asked every day if I’m playing Batman. Yeah, would I play Batman? Yes. Would I pay handsomely to be Batman? You wouldn’t even have to pay me to be Batman. I would, yeah, I would don the suit. [Adopts Batman voice] ‘Gotham is mine’. Look at that. I don’t even have to practice. It just comes out naturally.”
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. recently announced that the much-anticipated The Batman 2 had been pushed back another year, with a new release date of October 1, 2027. Robert Pattinson has since confirmed that it will begin filming later this year.
When asked if he’s “going to do Batman again soon”, he recently joked: “I fucking hope so. I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.. I’m 38, I’m old.”
Elsewhere, the third season of Reacher launched on Amazon Prime Video last month, with episodes premiering every week up until the final instalment on March 27.
